"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever."

Jacques Yves Cousteau

The first form of Ginger May appeared in 2012 in Moscow. Two independent musicians with similar musical tastes, Tanya Schneider and Marlene Vox, gathered to create songs. However, due to the relocation of one of the band members, the project began a new life in Tokyo, Japan.

Ginger May today is the collaboration of four passionate musicians who came together because of the need to write and perform original music in different genres.

Ginger May differs fundamentally from many Japanese bands, not only because of the multi-nationality of the band's members and original sound, but also the unusual combination of the dark visual image and lyrics. You can feel the influence of industrial metal and alternative rock in the band’s sound. The main feature of the band's sound is the mix of heavy guitar, electronic and catchy melodies.

Despite the "dark image " there really is no genre classification that fits Ginger May.  The songwriters Tanya Schneider and Satoshi Higashida strive to ensure that their original melodies create the musical basis for their convincing lyrics. For the band, it’s all about the song.

In November 2019, Ginger May released the new song MV "Mesmeriser" that hit nearly 32k views in 2 weeks! From the YouTube comments: "I'm speechless. I have no words guys. Where shall I start? It's just a masterpiece. Amazing costumes. The makeup artist is AMAZING! The video and the effects are so good. Very magical and futuristic at the same time. The acoustic intro and the evolution of the song with the storyline of the video matched perfectly! JUST AMAZING! Everything!"

On their debut album "Mesmerised", which was released on March 25, 2020, you will find songs of universal resonance that are available not only to rock lovers but also to the true connoisseurs of the original music.

Ginger May are:
